As both a mathematics professor and researcher, Chris Francisco regularly challenges assumptions. He rejects two of the most common ideas about his beloved subject: that math is inherently boring, and that it is inherently difficult for most people. The associate professor of mathematics and associate head for lower-division instruction uses his passion for the subject to help OSU students succeed across the university.

Teaching was not a subject Jenny Berry had contemplated when she chose to come to Oklahoma State University. 

Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Berry had not even anticipated going to college in-state until she visited her older sister at OSU. 

“I immediately fell in love with the school, with the town, and the people,” she explained. “Everyone was just so friendly. I literally went home that night and applied.” 

STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA – The Oklahoma State University Community Music School launched its services in the fall of 2017. The school, directed by Meredith Blecha-Wells, offers youth programs ranging from choir to orchestra to a Suzuki Strings program offering instruction in violin and cello. 

Meranda Golbek came to OSU with specific goals in mind. She knew she wanted to major in chemistry and then go to medical school. But sitting in
New Student Orientation the summer before her freshman year, Golbeck was thrown a curve ball. The speaker mentioned a new program, OSUTeach.

Nothing compares to working with your idol on a project of your passion, but Oklahoma State University junior Kyle Hunt did just that. Hunt and his classmates from the OSU Jazz Orchestra created an album with Grammy Award-winning trombonist Michael Dease through the help of their professor and OSU director of jazz studies Tommy Poole.

Sergio Mares found his way to Stillwater differently than most. Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, his mother moved back to Mexico shortly after his birth, where he spent most of his childhood. Mares returned to the United States in August of 2014, and attended Stillwater High School, graduating in May of 2017.

 The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is installing four new members into the prestigious OSU Hall of Fame.

Sarah Coburn, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, will be inducted at a ceremony Friday, February 9, at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.

Jimalea Patterson has always been an Oklahoma State University fan. After meeting her husband, Kenny, during her time at OSU, to her daughter graduating from OSU, to attending grandparent university with her grandchildren, she bleeds orange in the best possible way.

Stillwater resident Sheron Allen recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to play the piano.  A retired social worker and grandmother, Allen attended Introduction to Piano at the Seretean Center, one of many great opportunities to connect on campus through the College of Arts and Sciences Outreach non-credit programs.
