Danielle N. Lee, a postdoctoral associate in zoology at Oklahoma State University, will be honored by the White House on Wednesday, Feb. 26 as one of 10 “Champions of Change” being recognized for innovation in creating diversity and access in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

When we were children we all, at one time or another, made the idle threat that we would run away from home and join the circus.  Some of us may have even made it to the end of the block before hurrying back home. Oklahoma State University’s Lee Brasuell is the rare adult who found both a home and a circus as the theatre department’s assistant professor of technical direction and production management.

A selection of 34 photographs of historic barns in Oklahoma taken by OSU professor of geography Brad Bays, is now on display at The Coffee House, located at 3rd and Knoblock, near the southeast corner of the Oklahoma State University campus. The photos were taken as part of a five-year project to locate and document Oklahoma's most architecturally and historically significant barns.

Dr. Jay Winter, one of the most respected authorities on World War I, will present a lecture on the commemoration of the First World War, on Thurs., February 6 at 3:30 p.m. in Murray 035. A small reception will follow in the Murray Parlor.

The lecture, “Commemorating Catastrophe: the First World War 100 Years On,” is free and open to the public.

Oklahoma State University today announced a $1.45 million grant from the National Math and Science Initiative to replicate UTeach, a secondary science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) teacher preparation initiative that is addressing the nation’s STEM education crisis by producing qualified math and science teachers across the country. 

Fourteen Oklahoma State University Media and Politics students traveled to OETA’s Oklahoma City studio on Monday to observe and analyze live coverage of Governor Mary Fallin’s State of the State address. The experience built upon last week’s well-publicized exercises centered on the State of the Union address.

An exhibit titled “What Goes Up?” explores the intersection of humans and the natural world through Feb. 14, at the Gardiner Gallery in Bartlett Center at Oklahoma State University. 

A popular comic strip gets an unauthorized parody treatment as the characters become teenagers with issues in the OSU Theatre Council’s presentation of “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” with performances Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 16-18, at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 2 :30 p.m. in Jerry Davis Studio Theatre in Gundersen Hall.

 The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) recently elected Oklahoma State University Regents Professor of Botany Dr. David Meinke as a 2013 AAAS Fellow. He is the first Arts and Sciences faculty member in the Biological Sciences to be named a Fellow of the AAAS.
