Two former Oklahoma State University graduate students played integral roles in last week’s Orion spacecraft flight test to ensure the safety of the crew. Razvan Gaza worked on the design of the Orion capsule while Ramona Gaza will be analyzing data from the test for NASA’s Space Radiation Analysis Group. An OSU flag was on board for Orion’s maiden voyage.

The Oklahoma State University College of Arts & Sciences announced the creation of a new endowed faculty chair, the Dean and Carol Stringer Endowed Chair in American Literature.  The chair is made possible by a recent $1 million gift from Dean Stringer.  This is on top of a previous $1 million gift from Stringer in 2013 to create the Dean Stringer Endowed Chair in Political Science.

Thirty-two first-year students have embarked on a year-long initiation into the world of authentic research as part of a larger project supported in part by a grant to Oklahoma State University from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute through the Science Education Program.  The Life-Sciences Freshman Research Scholars (LSFRS) Program is overseen by faculty from the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and Zoology.
