Dr. Tristan Wu has been selected as a 2018 Western Social Science Association’s Outstanding Emerging Scholar Award recipient. Recipients of this award have been active in his or her discipline for less than five years after receiving their Ph.D. Dr. Wu graduated from Texas A&M University in 2013 before coming to Oklahoma State. He teaches emergency management and disaster response courses. Since receiving his Ph.D., Wu has published several works in over five emergency and disaster management journals.

William “Bus” Jaco was selected as the 2017 Eminent Faculty Award winner at the Oklahoma State University Awards Convocation on Dec. 6 at the OSU ConocoPhillips Alumni Center. The award recognizes the highest level of scholarly achievement at OSU. Jaco is a Regents professor and head of the department of mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Following extended conversations between OSUIT and the main Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, students will have a more seamless pathway to continuing their education and graduating with a baccalaureate degree from OSU. The new transfer agreements help students who secure an associate’s degree in business or pre-professional studies from OSUIT to then obtain a four-year degree at OSU-Stillwater.

Oklahoma State University Sociology professor Tamara (Tammy) Mix was recently honored as the Laurence L. and Georgia Ina Dresser Professor in Rural Sociology. The professorship is awarded for three years, with intent to bring distinction to the College of Arts and Sciences through research in sociology.

Student workers at Oklahoma State University have great opportunities to excel, just ask graphic design senior, Moriah Hengst. Hengst, who joined the College of Arts and Sciences Outreach team in 2016, was able to jump in and add to her skill set and her portfolio in a short 12 months.

Heidi Hoffer, a professor in OSU's Department of Theatre, spent time in Islamabad, Pakistan, with Theatre Wallay learning the ways of the Pakastani theatre and assisting them in bringing technology to the theatre in the form of design expertise and lighting systems. Hoffer recently returned from her trip and answered a few questions about her experience:
