About

The Psychology Department’s undergraduate program offers you excellent training in understanding human behavior and the uses of scientifically rigorous methods. A degree in psychology also serves as your foundation for various careers and helps you acquire a range of skills (problem solving, communication, research, computer literacy, etc.) that are applicable to the career path of your choice. Our degree allows you to complete a second major or a minor often without additional hours.

In addition, Psychology Club is an undergraduate organization dedicated to helping OSU students learn about the field of psychology. Within the club, you can participate in workshops about career opportunities at the bachelor level, admission to graduate programs, and presentations from professionals in various specialty areas in psychology. Psychology Club also facilitates interaction between students and psychology faculty, and provides numerous opportunities for community service.

Courses to expect for this major include Psychology of Humor, Social Psychology, and Clinical Child Psychology.

Minor

The Psychology minor at OSU helps you incorporate knowledge about human behavior and thought processes into any major or discipline from any of OSU’s colleges. A minor in psychology is flexible enough to compliment your chief interest from a wide range of possible subjects.

Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary minor if you would like to explore the study of the mind and intelligence. The minor offers you a specialized course of study in Cognitive Science through the departments of Psychology, Philosophy, Speech Communications, English, Computer Science, and Management Sciences and Information Systems.
