Oklahoma State University graduate student, Anna Berry, has been selected as a finalist for the Kristen Lewis Foundation Vocal Scholarship at the University of Central Arkansas.
Berry will be one of 12 performers in the final round of the competition on March 28-29. One singer will be eligible to receive the Kristen Lewis Vienna Stipendum, which funds one week of vocal study in Vienna, Austria, with soprano Carol Byers. Four singers will be eligible for financial assistance in the form of scholarships toward their professional pursuits.
Originally from Greene County, Pennsylvania, Berry is a soprano with the OSU music department’s Master of Music program where she studies vocal performance and pedagogy with OSU faculty member and mezzo-soprano, April Golliver. She arrived to OSU in the fall of 2013 after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in vocal performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
While at OSU, Berry has been active with the OSU music program through her graduate teaching assistant position, her involvement in both the University Singers and the Concert Chorale, and her performances with the OSU opera program. She hopes to move to Berlin, Germany, upon graduation to continue her studies.
The Kristin Lewis Foundation Vocal Scholarship auditions are designed to shine a spotlight on deserving, talented, and committed vocal students. Students must be within the ages 18-23, full-time undergraduate or graduate students studying at an U.S. college or university, in order to be eligible to apply. The first Kristin Lewis Foundation Vocal Scholarships will be awarded in Spring 2015.
