Two Oklahoma State University students placed at the 67th annual meeting of the Oklahoma Association of Professional Historians (OAPH) and the Oklahoma Regional Conference of Phi Alpha Theta (PAT), held February 20-21 in the Garvey Center at Oklahoma Christian University.
Ross Johndrow earned first place in the Undergraduate American History category for his paper, “The American Filibuster in Texas”.
Mary Sanders took third place in the Graduate American History category for her paper, “Theological Issues that Require a Theological Response: Twentieth-Century Theological Thought and the Questions Raised by Terrorism”.
Undergraduate Cara Menasco and graduate students Chelsea Medlock and Jim Ricker also presented papers at the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is for history professionals, faculty and students to share their research and aspects of their work. To be eligible for awards, student presenters must be Phi Alpha Theta members. Faculty and professional historians act as judges for the student paper competition.
