Dr. E. Ann Nalley, alumna of the Oklahoma State University chemistry department, has been awarded the 2015 American Chemical Society (ACS) Award for Encouraging Women into Careers in the Chemical Sciences.

The award recognizes significant accomplishments by individuals who have stimulated or fostered the interest of women in chemistry, promoting their professional developments as chemists or chemical engineers. The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation Inc. established the award in 1993.

Nalley will receive $5,000 and a certificate, and a grant of $10,000 will be given to an academic institution of her choosing. She will travel to Denver later this year to receive the award from The Women Chemists Committee of the American Chemical Society. 

After receiving her master's in chemistry from OSU in 1969, Nalley began teaching chemistry at Cameron University. In 1975 she received her doctorate in chemistry from Texas Woman’s University and was promoted to professor of chemistry at Cameron. She was chosen as the Clarence E. Page Endowed Chair in Math and Science at Cameron in 2012.
