Oklahoma State University is doing its part to raise money and awareness for the neurological disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by participating in the nationwide phenomenon known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Today at 4:00 p.m. the OSU College of Artsand Sciences joined the challenge.
The College of Artsand Sciences Dean Bret Danilowicz and Associate Dean Ron Van Den Bussche accepted their challenges from their counterparts in the OSU College of Engineering. CAS Student Services Director Amy Martindale accepted her challenge from her colleague, A&S adviser Shawn Rose.
Dr. Aaron Lukaszewski, the newest faculty member of the OSU psychology department, participated in the challenge and explained to a crowd of gathering students, faculty, and staff how ALS affects the human body and how important it is to keep doing research to not only improve the lives of those who develop ALS, but also to one day develop a cure for the disease.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised more than $41 million for ALS research as of today (Aug. 22, 2014).
