Physics Student Receives KITP Graduate Fellowship

Physics graduate student, Shreyashi Chakdar, has been awarded a Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics Graduate Fellowship for the fall 2014 semester. The KITP Graduate Fellowship is awarded to up to five physics graduate students nationwide each semester.

The Graduate Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for a select group of physics graduate students in the United States to spend a period of five to six months at the KITP, participate in KITP research programs, and broaden their understanding of physics in areas of current research.

Chakdar is a student of high energy physics theory. The emphasis of her work is on model building and new physics emerging from the Large Hadron Collider. Her advisor is Dr. Satya Nandi, OSU Regents Professor of physics and director of the Oklahoma Center for High Energy Physics.

During her fellowship, Chakdar will pursue research at the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
