The Phi Beta Kappa chapter of Oklahoma State University, Gamma of Oklahoma, initiated 18 new students members and its first ever alumni member on May 9, 2014. It was the second annual induction ceremony, as OSU’s chapter was established in 2013.
Professor Blaine Greteman of the University of Iowa became the first alumni member of the OSU chapter. He was OSU’s first and only recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship. In addition to his induction, Greteman delivered an address entitled “The American Scholar 2.0.”
Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, founded in 1776. It recognizes excellence on the part of students with a first or second major in a liberal arts discipline.
