Brockmeier to present series of book talks

Kevin38Award winning author of fantasy and fiction Kevin Brockmeier will host a series of talks in and around Stillwater, courtesy of the OSU Creative Writers Association and the Department of English.

The author of “The Illumination,” “The Brief History of the Dead,” and “The Truth About Celia” will host an evening of fiction reading and a Q&A Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at Backstage Stillwater. Brockmeier will also hold a chat with students and attendees at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14 in Morrill Hall, Room 307.

Brockmeier is a two-time recipient of the O. Henry Award, and is a winner of the Nelson Algren Award, the Italo Calvino Short Fiction Award, the James Michener-Paul Engle Fellowship, and is a recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. A resident of Little Rock, Ark., Brockmeier is a frequent lecturer for the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

On April 13, the OSU University Bookstore will also have copies of “The Illumination,” “The Brief History of the Dead,” and “The View from the Seventh Layer” available for purchase.
