Undergraduate students taking biology, chemistry, or life sciences coursework at OSU have a unique opportunity courtesy of the College of Arts and Sciences to experience having research published in a peer or panel-reviewed journal.

With financial grant support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the college authors five academic journals, “Proceedings of Freshman Research in Biochemistry,” “Microreviews in Cell and Molecular Biology,” “Research Reports from Life Science Freshmen Research Scholars,” “Proceedings of the Plant Biology Symposium”, and the “Journal of Introductory Biology Investigations.”

“The OSU-HHMI program is continuing to push forward with innovative tools to promote undergraduate research,” program coordinator Coral Rewasiewicz said, “this time in the form of creating journals for research courses.”

The goal of this program is to help students not only develop knowledge about the processes of scientific research and peer-review knowledge dissemination, but also put their capabilities and talents for research on full display.

Each journal is generally open to students enrolled in particular courses. For more information on class restrictions or to view the current issue of each journal, visit undergradsciencejournals.okstate.edu.
