The Department of Communications Sciences & Disorders and the College of Arts & Sciences Outreach at Oklahoma State University are teaming up with an expert in social learning to host a conference on social thinking methods for communication disorders.

Renee Attaway, M.S., CCC-SLP, will be the keynote speaker at the Cimarron Conference on Communication Disorders on Friday, April 7, at the Wes Watkins Center at OSU’s Stillwater campus.

The conference’s theme is “Implementing Social Thinking Concepts and Vocabulary.”

Attaway is the founder and director of Social Learning at the Parish School in Houston, Texas. Established in 1983, the Parish School is a private, non-profit institution which specializes in educating children ages two through 12 with communication delays and learning disorders.

Attaway is an OSU Alum ( B.S. Communication Sciences & Disorders ’98 ) with a M.S. from Baylor. She is a member of the Social Thinking Training and Speakers’ Collaborative, and has been providing workshops for organizations in the U.S. and Canada since 2012. Attaway has worked with the Parish School for 16 years.

The conference program is offered for .6 continuing education credits for intermediate level professionals. Full attendance is required for the credits.
