Two Oklahoma State University faculty members, Andy Mattern and Chris Ramsay, recently received recognition for their artistic contributions.
Mattern, OSU assistant professor of photography, was selected as a 2017 Art 365 Artist. Art 365 is an exhibition from the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition in which Oklahoma artists have the opportunity to display their innovative artwork in collaboration with a nationally recognized curator. Every three years, OVAC selects five artists to be awarded a $12,000 honorarium. The artists then work with the curator to create a body of original artwork for the exhibition. Mattern’s artwork will be featured at the exhibition debut in June 2017 located in Norman.
Ramsay, OSU professor of jewelry and metals, was selected as a 2016 Fellow of the Tulsa Artist Fellowship. The Tulsa Artist Fellowship is a George Kaiser Family Foundation program developed to bring acclaimed and upcoming artists to live and work in Tulsa to enhance the arts community. Ramsay was one of 12 fellows selected from more than 300 applicants. Each fellow receives a stipend of up to $40,000 and free housing and studio space in Tulsa.
