Moore Wins Second Annual CAS Undergraduate 3MT®

Gretchen Moore captured first place in the second annual College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate 3MT® competition.  The event was produced entirely by the CAS Student Council (CASSC) and took place Feb. 18 inside the Student Union Theatre.

Moore won the competition for her presentation titled “INI-1 and All of Its Friends: The Analysis of the INI-1 Protein and Associated Proteins That Contribute to Cancer Formation.”  She received a $1,000 prize provided by ConocoPhillips.

Six CAS undergrads participated in Thursday’s final round, with all receiving cash prizes.  The remaining presenters were:

  • 2nd place: Micah Gillezeau
  • 3rd place: Michelle Ludiker
  • 4th place: Katie Ann Dudley
  • 5th place: Jordan Fleming
  • 6th place: Mariah Nacke

The students were allowed only one static slide and three minutes to present their research to an audience with no background in their respective areas of study.  The 3MT® competition was founded by the University of Queensland (Australia) and has traditionally been open to graduate students in universities across the world, including OSU.

The OSU Graduate College hosts its fourth annual 3MT® competition in April.
