The Oklahoma State University Department of Chemistry hosted its 4th Annual Aldrich Lecture in April. Dr. Huw M.L. Davies of Emory University presented this year’s lecture, titled “Collaborative Approach to C-H Funtionalization.”
Huw is recognized as an international leader in organic synthesis and, in addition to presenting his lecture, took time to interact with many faculty members.
A highly decorated scholar and researcher, Huw is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Academy of Inventors. He earned the eEROS Reagent of the Year Award in 2013 and serves on the Editorial Boards of Organic Synthesis and Chemical Society Reviews.
Sigma-Aldrich provided the funding for the lecture series as well as travel support to students to attend and present papers at American Chemical Society meetings. Sigma-Aldrich is a leading Life Science and High Technology company. Their chemical and biochemical products and kits are used in scientific research, including genomic and proteomic research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, the diagnosis of disease and as key components in pharmaceutical, diagnostic and other high technology manufacturing.
