Dr. Amy Foster, notable author of works on gender and space, will visit Oklahoma State University on March 10-11 to talk about her research and experiences with NASA.

On March 10, Foster will hold a lecture titled, “How Lt. Uhura Changed the World: NASA’s Women Astronauts”, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 416 of the OSU Student Union.

On March 11, a reception and book signing will begin at 5 p.m. in the Noble Research Center (NRC) atrium on the OSU-Stillwater campus. Admission is free to the public and students, faculty and staff of OSU.

Foster will be featuring her book, Integrating Women into the Astronaut Corps: Politics and Logistics at NASA, 1972-2004. Books will be available for purchase.

Following the reception, the PBS documentary MAKERS: Women in Space, in which Foster is featured, will be shown in Room 207, NRC. Foster will give a talkback to the audience post-screening.

Foster is an associate professor of history at the University of Central Florida. She received her Ph.D. in history from Auburn University.The event is co-sponsored by the OSU department of history and the American Studies and Gender & Women Studies programs. The Fae Rawdon Norris Endowment for the Humanities is funding Foster’s visit.
