About

The Global Studies degree at OSU educates you on local and global topics while learning about contemporary cultures and working with people in diverse backgrounds. This degree offers you four distinct emphases for coursework: Culture, the Arts and Humanities; Geopolitical and Global Economy; or Global Sustainability. You will have the option to fulfill course requirements abroad by either following a traditional semester study abroad path through the Oklahoma State Study Abroad Office, or by enrolling in shorter one- or two-week courses led by department faculty. WIth a Global Studies major, you gain a variety of skills, including a deep understanding of the institutions and processes that shape the world. Our goal is to increase your cross-cultural knowledge and understanding, as well as strengthen your verbal and written communications skills.

Public Service Opportunities 

Students majoring in Global Studies can find volunteer work through the OSU Student Volunteer Center on campus. Other national and international volunteer opportunities can be matched at VolunteerMatch. Volunteering can help communities, help students explore career options and gain experience.

Career Options

Students majoring in Global Studies pursue jobs within the United States and abroad. They seek careers with local, state, or federal agencies, in the private sector, or with non-governmental and charitable organizations. A Global Studies major is also a good way to prepare for law school or graduate study.

BA - Global Studies

Minor

The minor in Global Studies provides you with an opportunity to explore topics of interest from an international and geographic perspective and is an excellent complement to a variety of degree programs such as Political Science, Sociology, Natural Resource and Environmental Management, International Business, Global Studies, History, Economics, and Geology among others. The minor is designed to be completed in conjunction with general education degree requirements.
