About

Zoology is a life science degree that provides you with a thorough background in the biology of animals. This program equips you with the foundational knowledge needed for veterinary school, or any other other health-care related career. With a Zoology major, you learn about animal diversity and select among upper-division courses on specific animal groups and/or related topics. You will also work on an independent research project in a faculty mentor’s lab or complete a relevant internship.

Courses to expect for this major include Animal Biology, General Ecology, Vertebrate Morphology, Invertebrate Zoology, General Genetics, and Evolution, as well as a choice among specialized, upper-division courses.

Minor

A minor in Zoology is designed to provide you with a broad background in the biology of animals. Courses include Animal Biology, General Genetics, Evolution, and a choice among specialized animal-based courses, such as Biology of Fishes, General Parasitology, Herpetology, Invertebrate Zoology, Limnology, Mammalogy, or Ornithology.

Become an OK-LSAMP Scholar! OK-LSAMP is a consortium of Oklahoma colleges and universities working together to develop programs aimed at increasing the number of students from under-represented populations who receive degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The OK-LSAMP scholarship program provides scholars with increased opportunities and connections, including undergraduate research experiences, graduate school preparation, international experiences, and internships/externships with companies in the STEM fields.
