About
Studying sociology helps you see the whole world through the perspective of different cultures and develop a global, multi-cultural understanding. Within the Department of Sociology, an emphasis in Anthropology is also offered. The department’s Applied Sociology emphasis provides opportunities for real-world employment experiences. Sociology gives you both the tools to live in a changing world and the opportunity to change the world you live in. You learn and develop strong critical-thinking communication skills, ethical judgment, the ability to work in diverse teams, and openness to continuous learning - all necessary skills to be successful in the fast changing job markets.

Minor
The minor in Sociology allows you to explore a variety of topics based on academic interests. Students in any major, especially those majoring in Psychology, History, Political Science, English, Geography, Business and Human Development and Family Sciences often pair their majors with a minor in Sociology.
The Anthropology minor offers you the opportunity to study the past and present of humans while gaining an understanding of the development of human cultures and populations. You can study Comparative Cultures, Biological Anthropology, and Cultural Anthropology while focusing on critical thinking, communication skills, and ethical judgement.
