About

The German program at Oklahoma State University will help you to develop speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills in German and a greater understanding of German-speaking cultures. You will also develop critical thinking skills as you study German literature and linguistics. Choosing a German major or minor complements a wide variety of academic fields of study such as business management, engineering, the performing arts, literature, linguistics, journalism, geography, and religion. It also provides you with the ability to interact more successfully with a wider range of people while gaining a competitive edge in the job market. Given the ever-increasing role of Germany as a world leader, the opportunities for graduates with a major or minor in German are likewise increasing. 

Courses to expect for this major include Elementary German, Intermediate Reading and Conversation, and Introduction to German Literature and Film.

Minor

A German minor is designed to develop an advanced level of proficiency in the four basic language skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking while introducing students to aspects of German literature and culture.
