Thirty-two first-year students have embarked on a year-long initiation into the world of authentic research as part of a larger project supported in part by a grant to Oklahoma State University from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute through the Science Education Program.  The Life-Sciences Freshman Research Scholars (LSFRS) Program is overseen by faculty from the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and Zoology.

Oklahoma State University students made quite the impression during the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (O.I.L.) competition at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City, capturing the award for best overall delegation, among numerous other awards.

The Oklahoma State University Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program has awarded its first graduate fellowships to five doctoral students, each of whom will receive an annual stipend of $2,500 for research projects in toxicology, the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms.

OSU’s American Indians Into Psychology (AIIP) program is a central reason for the department's success. The AIIP program, in its 17^th year, seeks to recruit qualified American Indian students into the field of clinical psychology.
