It probably doesn’t shock you to learn that throughout history, physically formidable humans (especially males) have been the most likely to hold power.  You can probably envision a large caveman clubbing challengers into submission.  However, certain physical traits continue to predict leadership emergence even in modern societies where the use of brute force alone would be an illegal, or at least frowned upon, tactic of persuasion.

Adam Cobb, a doctoral student in natural resource ecology and management, was awarded first place and $1,000 at the fourth Oklahoma State University Graduate College Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition for thesis master’s and Ph.D. students on March 3 in the Student Union Theater. Cobb presented on sustainability in farming systems; linking soil ecology to improved food nutritional quality. He will represent OSU in the regional 3MT competition in February 2017.

The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents Friday approved the appointment of Dr. Howard Potter as Professor and Head of the Department of Music in OSU's School of Visual and Performing Arts beginning July 1. Potter is currently Associate Dean of the University of Rochester Eastman School of Music.
