Growing up in Stigler, Oklahoma, Ron Ward learned at an early age the value of education and a strong work ethic. Hismother, Gladys, was a schoolteacher and his father, James, a rancher. Ward took those attributes to Stillwater to attend Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and statistics. “Education at OSU — regardless of your degree — is learning how to best starts for a successful career,” Ward said, adding that it’s also vital to be constantly ready to learn. “Never be complacent or static with what knowledge or skill you have, and never be afraid of hard work.” While at OSU, Ward met and married his wife, Cindy.
