Faculty, Research and Facilities Dr. Joseph Missal (Greenwood School of Music) is the third CAS representative in three years to be inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame. Dr. Joe Cecil (Computer Science) received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from the White House. Dr. John Chaney’s American Indians Into Psychology program earned the renewal of a $1.2 million, five-year grant from Indian Health Services. The Gary F. Stewart Core Research Facility opened in November 2019, allowing geology faculty and students to conduct cutting-edge research by utilizing subsurface core materials. The two new collaborative learning classrooms in Math Sciences are ideal for OSU’s innovative and wildly successful co-requisite mathematics courses. The desks can be arranged for traditional lectures or into pods for group work. The wireless presentation system also allows students to electronically share their work with the rest of the class. Alumni Success Martha Burger (1973 medical technology), president of Oklahoma City University, was recently named an Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductee. Dani Welniak (2011 journalism and broadcasting) was part of the first all-female national radio network crew for an NCAA football bowl subdivision game (FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl).
