STORY ELIZABETH GOSNEY | PHOTOS GARY LAWSON, PROVIDED INCOMING GREATNESS THREE CAS FRESHMEN ARE CHOSEN AS OKLAHOMA STATE SCHOLAR SOCIETY FELLOWS The Oklahoma State Scholar Society is only a few years old, but it has already amassed a membership of some of the best and brightest young minds in the state. Each year, 50 semifinalists are chosen based on a minimum GPA of 3.8, minimum ACT score of 27, OSU application essays and leadership résumé. Through a series of phone and in-person interviews, five students are offered OSSS fellowships and receive up to $74,500 in scholarships, including a onetime study abroad stipend. This year, three of the five OSSS fellows have declared majors within the College of Arts and Sciences: Makinley Kennedy, sports media and political science; Sarah Short, plant biology; and Meg Jackson, political science and music. 30 CONNECT 2020
